Cyprus Aphrodite Half Marathon 25th November (Annual)
Paphos
Every year runners take part in the Cypriot half marathon along the coast of Paphos. If you fancy joining but are not at your peak of fitness the why not enter the 5km fun run instead. However spectators will enjoy this event just as much.

Cyprus International 4-day challenge - 29th November- 2nd December (Annual)
Akamas National Park, Paphos
This is Cyprus’ International event that sees entrants take part in a mixture of road and trail running through spectacular scenery across 4 days.

December

Ayia Napa Christmas Programme All December (Annual)

If you decide to spend Christmas in the warm sunny climate of Cyprus then make sure you visit Ayia Napa which has a programme of special Christmas events for the festive season. Expect to bump into Father Christmas in the town see him ride by on the Christmas train! There’s also a tree lighting ceremony, twinkling lights and great Christmas markets to buy all your presents.

The second largest pilgrimage in Spain. Over 200,000 people make this trip each year, an 8km journey from the town hall to the monastery with a traditional breakfast along the way!

January

Epiphany (Feast of Light) January (Annual)

In Cyprus Ephipany celebrations are huge as it is one of the most important Greek Orthodox religious celebrations commemorating the baptism of Christ in the River Jordan. A procession to the sea is lead by the Bishop who performs a ceremonial baptism throwing a holy cross into the sea. Men dive into the water to get the cross back then doves are released whilst musicians play.

February

Carnival February (Annual)

Before the 50 days of Easter Cyprus has 2 weeks of celebrations revolving round food so this is your best chance to sample some of Cyprus’s traditional cuisine. The first week is called Kreatini meaning Meat Week and the following week is Tyrini meaning Cheese Week. All towns in Cyprus take part in these celebrations holding different events throughout the week but the ones in Limassol are always very popular, with parades and Fancy Dress balls.

Green Monday February (Annual)

As the beginning of Lent, Green Monday is celebrated in Cyprus with carnival processions, music and Fancy Dress parades. Paphos holds a kite-flying competition by the town’s lighthouse which is always popular.

Trodos International Ski Competition February (Annual)
Trodos
Further a field from Paphos the town of Trodos holds an annual International Ski Competition for the International Ski Federation which is probably as thrilling to watch as it is to take part. Watch in awe as talented skiers and snowboarders show off their skills.

Annunciation Feast Day March (Annual)
Klirou and Kalavasos
At this day-long fair celebrating the Feast of the Annunciation, you can really get a feel of the traditions of old Cyprus where Cypriot women can be seen lacemaking in the villages of Klirou and Kalavasos. Other local crafts and food can be bought at the craft fairs and make great souvenirs or presents to take home.

Musical Sundays April (Annual)
Larnaca
Take a trip from Paphos over to Larnaca on a Sunday in April to experience performances of traditional Cypriot Music and Dance which is great fun for all the family.

FIA World Rally Championships May (Annual)

Starting in the town of Limasoll the Cyprus round of the World Rally Championships sees some of the world’s top rally drivers racing against the spectacular backdrop of Cyprus’s beautiful scenery and historical sights through the scenery of Cyprus

Pentecost – Kataklysmos May (Annual)
Larnarca
Kataklysmos means the Festival of the Flood and is the Christian feats of Pentecost celebrated in all areas of Cyprus. The tradition if Pentecost originated from the veneration of Aphodite. In Larnaca you can take a stroll along the promenade where you can watch the boat races and see musical and theatre performances. Kids can also have fun at the fair or paddling in the sea as well as watching the wrestling competitions and canoe races.

Ayia Napa has been holding this Children’s Festival for over a decade where the main square is filled with different stalls, music and food.

The beer festival in the Molos area of Limassol is a great event for tourists to Cyprus giving you a chance to sample local Cypriot beers as well as the best imported beers. DJ's, live music and performance keep festival goers entertained.
