Paphos
Paphos is separated into two main areas which includes Kato Paphos (lower Paphos) and Ano Paphos (upper Paphos). Kato Paphos is home to the more traditional archaeological sites and overlooks the old harbour so is ideal if you are looking for a long or short break in Cyprus filled with historical and interesting activities. Ano Paphos has a few small museums and is also the Urban centre of the region.

Eating
Budget: Try a taste of traditional Cypriot cuisine at Laiko Tavern located just outside of Kato Paphos. To eat in true Cyrpiot style, ask for the Meze which is a platter of cooked meats, salad dishes and dips served over the course of the evening.+44 (00) 26 96 06 97
Mid-Range: Eat out at the popular Flambe restaurant where the dishes are cooked and served in front of you at your table and they taste delicious too! Drinking
Budget: Aces cocktail bar as the name suggests offers a variety of cocktails and is great value for money. Plenty of budget bars can be found along Bar Street including cheesy 70’s themed bar Starsky and Hutch.
Mid-Range: Most bars in Paphos are suited to a cheap fun night out so if you’re looking for somewhere a little more stylish but still not too expensive then its best to check out the Old town where a nightout is more traditional and you can enjoy a few drinks away from the hustle and bustle of the infamous Bar Street. Many tourists choose to drink after a meal in one of the local Cypriot restaurants that are open till late and often put on traditional entertainment with music and dancing. Try the bars in Limassol too where you can find trendy bars serving a wide selection of drinks and cocktails.
Luxury: The trendy set drink in Limassol where you can find the Londa Bar. Like the boutique Londa Hotel it is part of, this bar offers a funky setting in which to drink delicious cocktails in whilst gazing out at the sea view .The old town has some classy bars to drink in too then afterwards locals head to the Basement Disco for clubbing in sophisticated surroundings.
Things To See And Do
- For fantastic views visit the Trodos mountain range, the biggest in Cyprus. Trodos' highest peak is Mount Olympus at 1,952 meters.
- Head to the beach! Cyprus has beautiful clean beaches with white sand and clear blue water. A popular beach is the Nissi beach in Agia Napa and the famous Aphrodite beach can be found between Limassol and Paphos.
- See the sights in the Kato Paphos area of the town if you are looking for a bit of historical Cyprus. Here you can stroll around the archaeological sites or along the beautiful old harbour. Ano Paphos also has places of interest for culture vultures with a few interesting museums and traditional architecture.
- Have a great family day out at Paphos Waterpark where you can still enjoy the sun but have a break from the beach.
- Go clubbing in Ayia Napa, this buzzing town is full of great bars and clubs which are packed in the summer and have a brilliant atmosphere.
Shopping
Cyprus is the perfect place to shop if you are looking for souvenirs or presents to take home. Many of the gift shops and market stalls sell local produce and wine as well as Cypriot Handicrafts. Look out for weaving, ceramics, wood carving and silver and copper products. Cities like Paphos and nearby Ayia Napa have high street clothing stores as well as shops selling traditional goods like embroidered clothing and sandals.
Beyond The City
Ayia Napa – groups of young people will not want to miss a visit to this clubbers paradise where the party lasts all night long and often spills onto the beach! Head to the beach in the day time too as Ayia Napa has some of the best and there are always plenty of activities going on including watersports.
Paphos Waterpark – Families will have a great day out at this waterpark just on the edge of Paphos. With slides and attractions to accommodate all ranges this is the perfect place for a fun day out in the sun.
