Tucked away in the streets of Salzburg are a wealth of bustling bars & clubs. As a university town and a city of music you’ll find lots on offer to keep your entertained till the wee hours.
Bars: Barfly at Rudolfskai 22 is a loud and lively bar and Podium in the same area attracts a young crowd. Saitensprung, Steingasse 11, is a combination of bar and disco, while a more stylish bar alternative with a rather cool feel is Havana, Priesterhausgasse 14.
Steinterrasse, a café/bar/lounge which is part of the trendy Hotel Stein, is open daily from 0900 until midnight and has amazing panoramic, rooftop views of this historic city.
Clubs: Of the city's many clubs, Republic, Anton Neumayr Platz 2, is a popular spot with live music and dancing, as is Half Moon, Anton-Neumayr-Platz 5. Chez Roland, Giselakai 15, is great for more mature clubbers and has a great atmosphere.

Salzburg's Cathedral
This is the city's ecclesiastical centre and the most significant piece of early Baroque architecture in the whole of Europe north of the Alps. Among the precious objects it contains is the font in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptised. Domplatz Tel: (0662) 804 7450.
The Hohensalzburg Fortress
Overlooking the city from high above, this is the largest fully-preserved fortress in Central Europe and Salzburg's chief landmark with a history going back to 1077. Mozart's Birthplace
The Hagenauer House is where Mozart's family lived on the third floor from 1747 to 1773. The musical genius was born here in 1756. Today the house is a museum with exhibits such as Mozart's childhood violin and several of his other instruments. Getreidegasse 9 Tel: (0662) 844 313.
The Residenz
The former official apartments of the Salzburg prince archbishops is an extensive and impressive complex of buildings, which contains the Residenz Gallery - an excellent art gallery with masterpieces by Rembrandt, Rubens and Brueghel. Residenzplatz Tel: (0662) 8042 2690/2761.
Shopping
There are some great shopping centres in Salzburg, the most striking is Europark at Europastrasse 1, designed by architect Massimiliano Fuksas.
For a unique shopping trip head to the Old Town where there are more than 400 shops and boutiques selling jewellery, handicrafts, designer wear, high fashion, books and much more.
There are some great street markets such as the Green Market on University Square and the adjacent Wiener Philharmoniker Gasse which are open daily except for Sundays and feature an abundance of meat, fruit, vegetables, seafood, fish, bread and cheeses, as well as flowers and local handicraft products.
