Moors & Christians Festival
Villafranqueza | San Blas | Altozano | Jose Antonio | The Gran Desfile
A very traditional festival focusing on the history and religion of the region particularly the events of the 12th and 13th century. With an array of handmade costumes, street carnivals, food and drink and exciting battle re-enactments there is plenty to hold your interest. The event takes place in different area of the city on different dates of the year with the finale (Gran Desfile) on the 6th December when a grand procession with participants from each of the areas joining in.

Santa Faz Pilgrimage
Monasterio de Santa Faz
The second largest pilgrimage in Spain. Over 200,000 people make this trip each year, an 8km journey from the town hall to the monastery with a traditional breakfast along the way!

Saint John's Bonfires
Various Locations
5 days of festivities celebrating the summer solstice. The bonfires begin on the night of the 20th with large papier mâché and wooden sculptures being erected. Four days later they are set alight alongside a huge firework display and various other entertainments and sporting events.

Old Quarter
Fantastic market taking place at the end of June every year straight after the Saint John's bonfires celebrations.

Festival de Verano de Alicante (Summer Festival)
Paseo del Puerto
A two-month programme of events taking place at the port. Entertainment for all the family including dance, theatre, music and other performing arts.
