Once a small fishing village near the most southerly tip of Lanzarote, Playa Blanca has developed into Lanzarote's second most popular resort. Playa Blanca (the white beach) from which the town takes its name has a European Blue Flag for cleanliness and is at the heart of the resort. Playa Blanca is a recent development, with a beautiful new promenade along the sea front. Despite being a relatively new resort every effort has been made to match the traditional with the modern. Playa Flamingo is a few minutes walk to the west of the town along the sea-front walkway and Playa Dorada (Golden Beach) has warm honey coloured sand where the sea is generally very calm.
Some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands are just four miles (six km) away at Papagayo Beach. The resort is mainly geared for families and couples looking for a relaxing time either on one of the beaches or wandering around the promenade looking to do some shopping. One of the newest areas in Playa Blanca is Marina Rubicon. Located close to Papagayo, at the eastern-end of the resort, Marina Rubicon is a sea front development of upmarket restaurants and designer boutiques positioned next to a beautiful Marina of luxury yachts and boats.

From Playa Blanca you are also around 15 minutes ride from Fuerteventura for a great day trip.
