What's On In Jersey

Events take place throughout the year on the Channel Islands with numerous festivals, nautical events and races and historical reenactments. Here is a sample of some of the things you can expect:

May

The Jersey International Food Festival
A chance to sample the best local cuisine as stalls take over the streets of St Helier and diners are entertained by music and street theatre.

July

The Alderney International Sailing Regatta
A sailing weekend with races to and from France

August

The Alderney Wildlife Festival
Provides opportunities to see wildlife including seals and storm petrols

Alderney Week
This is celebrated from the first Monday of August and is a traditional week of traditional and more eccentric festivities including parade floats on Cavalcade Day, a man powered flight competition where entrants build a fantastic flying machine and launch themselves off the harbour, a sandcastle competition and the daft raft race competition.

Battle of Flowers
this annual event on Jersey began in 1902 when floats were decorated with flowers to celebrate the Coronation of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Now thousands of people take part in the event on the second Thursday in August. Originally the battle got its names as people ripped the floats to pieces and threw flowers at each other. This is no longer the case and the floats are reused the next day in the Moonlight Parade.

October/November

Tennerfest

December

Christmas time at the castle
