This lunar-looking volcanic island has quality, consistent surf, with the best waves to be found on the northern half of the island, on both coasts. The best waves are to be found on shallow, lava reefs, where heights of up to five metres are fairly common.

Every year on the 5th January there is a parade with 3 camel riders offering sweets and presents to children. (Adults have to buy their own!)

Puerto Del Carmen
During the February, a great procession of people in carnival costumes parade through the streets of Puerto Del Carmen.
