About Jet2.com - the Low Cost Airline

Jet2.com is well known as a low cost airline but you might be surprised to learn that it in fact only started offering its popular low cost flights as recently as February 2003. The first budget flight departed from Leeds Bradford Airport, in the North of England, and this remains Jet2.com’s main base.

During 2003, Jet2.com provided low cost flights to seven top European business, sun and city break destinations. Its popularity and success as a low cost airline meant that Jet2.com soon widened its choice of holiday and business destinations as well as its range of available aircraft. This meant that the number of airports had to be expanded as well and in December 2004 a second base was established at Manchester Airport. Eight Jet2.com planes are now based at Manchester Airport and make regular low cost flights to some twenty-two international destinations.

Six UK bases now offer Jet2.com’s cheap flight service to numerous top sun, ski and city break destinations in more than ten European countries, three Mediterranean islands and the Canary Islands. On top of this you can take advantage of the low cost airline at Belfast International Airport; offering flights to ten popular European destinations and two domestic routes.

Holidaymakers can now also take a cheap flight from Newcastle Airport to visit any one of thirteen fabulous holiday destinations, using Jet2.com’s ever-expanding airline service. Destinations serviced by the popular airline include Amsterdam, Bergen, Cork, Krakow, Menorca, Pisa and Tenerife. Blackpool International Airport is also now home to Jet2.com’s planes and you can take a low cost flight to Murcia, Belfast, Palma and more. The sixth northern base to become home to perhaps the country’s most recognisable low cost airline was Edinburgh Airport. Cheap flights started from this airport in April 2006 to a range of much-visited destinations, including Pisa and Murcia.

Jet2.com stands out from other budget airlines for a number of reasons, one of which being that it usually uses principal airports. Marco Polo International Airport is one example of a large primary airport offering low cost flights from Jet2.com, Charles de Gaulle International Airport is another. This practice means that flyers can enjoy cheap flights from main airports which are easily accessible for most. Jet2.com also stands out because of its unique booking policy – flyers can book a low cost flight by telephone or the internet for a fast and convenient service.

Ninety seven per cent of all Jet2.com flights are now booked online via the dedicated website. Customers can not only book a cheap flight online but can find links to additional great value holiday services including car hire, hotels, airport transfers and travel insurance.
