Budget: ‘La Cocinas del Cardenal’ (Plaza del Cardenal Belluga 7’). Offering a good selection of dishes either as part of a fixed price menu or to sample as Tapas at the bar.

Luxury: ‘Asador la casa del Reloj’ (San Pedro Del Pinator). An old manor house, serving a mouthwatering menu in a historic setting.

Drinking

‘El Churra’ (Av Marques de los Vélez) is a very popular bar with a lively atmoshphere serving a wide range of food and drink. ‘El Perro Azul’ (Clle Simon Garcia 19) is a candelit bar near to the university area. Or if you prefer to listen to live music whilst enjoying a drink or two try ‘La Puerta Falsa’ (San Martin de Porres).

Things To See And Do

- Museum de la Ciudad: (Plaza Agustinas 7, 968). The museum hold a collection of local historical pieces, and also tells the story of the importance of water in Murcia.
- Museo de la Ciencia y el Agua: (Plaza de la Cienca 1). A child friendly, interactive museum.
- La Glorieta: 18th century square situated in the centre of the modern city.
- Cathedral of Santa Maria: Built in 1394 on the site of Murcia’s city mosque.
- La Traperia: A very famous street in Murcia, well known for both it’s ice cream parlours and it’s casino. The casino (No.22, www.casinomurcia.com) is not to be missed!

Beyond The City

- Mar Menor: 45 miles of coastline and beach which also houses a very large lagoon. The sand split between Mar Menor and the sea is the area known as La Manga, famed for it’s golf courses and the recuperative properties of the waters.
- Lorca: A small town with an attractive centre and an array of charming buildings.
- Caravaca de la Cruz: A traditional town with an abundance of ancient churches.
