The winter sports season is not yet over so now may be the best time for Britons to book cheap ski flights and bag a bargain break.

And while skiing can be a costly pastime, according to one sector commentator there are plenty of ways Brits can hit the slopes and save their pennies.

In an article for Moneywise, holidaymakers are advised to check out the Pyrenees in Spain, as this year resorts have benefited from a generous amount of snow.

And the resource's Nathalie Bonney states that the end of the ski season is the best time to jet off as the snow will be "less predictable", although she adds that this does not mean it will be worse.

"This year, for example, heavy snowfall across Europe means that booking a late deal towards the end of March or beginning of April could give you significant savings without compromising on perfect powder," she adds.

However, while many Britons may be planning to ditch their skis in favour of a snowboard, Trigger Happy TV's Dom Joly, writing on the online pages of the Independent, recently claimed that although the sport looks stylish and comfy, he will always prefer skiing.
