It could be said that the film which really caught the hearts and imaginations of Britons last year was Mamma Mia!, a musical that tells the story of a young woman trying to find her real father, told through the songs of ABBA.
The movie was shot on the Greek island of Skopelos and many people may have seen a definite attraction to the relaxed lifestyle there, which saw Meryl Streep jumping into the warm deep blue ocean, which may prompt holidaymakers to consider a Greek getaway this year.
And booking cheap flights to Crete could be a wise move, after the Telegraph's Fred Mawer stated that as it is the furthest south of all the Greek islands it has the longest sunny season.
He recommended booking a villa in Crete as villa owners tended not to raise their rates as much in the summer as in other parts of Greece, making it an affordable getaway choice.
