While Brits considering booking cheap flights to Tenerife may already be aware of the island's bubbling nightlife and red hot pubs and clubs, there is a far more explosive attraction they may also wish to see.
Ben Ross, writing on the online travel pages of the Independent, explains that he and his sons were drawn to the Canary Island by their wish to get up close and personal with the monster volcano that makes up its core - Teide.
"It's truly vast, with a sharp peak often veiled in clouds, aloof from the packed resorts of Tenerife's south coast, roughly 3,717 metres below," he notes.
Mr Ross added that his family also enjoyed a drive that took in banana trees, prickly pears and pine forests on their journey to find some lava.
And he found that the island had much to offer children by way of entertainment, including Playa de las Americas.
Here tourists can watch dolphin displays at the aquatic park, before enjoying the array of water rides and slides, the perfect way to cool off from a spot of volcano-exploration.
