While many holidaymakers might take photographs to remember their journey, Michael Hughes' snaps are a little different, reports the Metro.

The traveller holds objects in front of famous landmarks, making for a unique perspective on some of the world's most famous structures.

For instance, anyone heading off on cheap flights to Paris might expect to see the Eiffel Tower in all its full-size glory.

But Mr Hughes prefers to hold a plastic souvenir of the structure in the foreground of his photograph to replace the real thing precisely.

His hobby might appeal to anyone who's previously used cheap flights to Pisa as a way of recreating the optical illusion of appearing to hold up the leaning tower in a photo.

Mr Hughes tells the Metro: "It's actually very difficult to do it properly, so nobody can copy me."

Other items he has used to replace landmarks include coffee cups, postcards and CD covers with the appropriate image printed on them.

The official Eiffel Tower website advises that it stocks some souvenirs which are unavailable anywhere else.

As such, travellers stepping off of cheap flights to Paris might opt to head to the tower for a truly unique holiday snap.
