When it comes to choosing destinations for their summer holiday this year, Britons are increasingly becoming more adventurous, one expert has claimed, which may prompt people to book cheap flights to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.

Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), explained that Egypt was doing well for bookings made by Britons this year, as it offered value for money and there were many all-inclusive offerings which allowed travellers to control their costs.

"People to a certain extent are booking away from Western Europe," she added.

Sharm el Sheikh is a city situated on the coast of Egypt between the Red Sea and Mount Sinai.

It is a favourite spot for people looking to partake in a spot of scuba diving as its Red Sea location has resulted in its waters being warm.

This may be a draw to the two per cent of Briton who, in an ABTA survey on what people most valued about their holiday, stated it was being the envy of family and friends.
