Britons who have booked their cheap flights to Spain for their 2009 summer break may wish to pack their walking boots and head for the north coast region of Asturias.
Ben Crichton, writing for the Independent, explains that at the destination, which is close to the Bay of Biscay, travellers can choose to experience either "surf, turf or city life".
He adds that there are few other places in the world where people can walk at an altitude of 2,000 metres in "pristine" wilderness, perhaps even crossing paths with bears, wolves and eagles, before relaxing on an uncrowded beach later in the day.
And Mr Crichton also points out how easy it is to fly to Asturias from the UK.
For Britons who really want to get away from it all by soaking up the sun in peace, they may wish to visit the region's aptly named Playa del Silencio - Beach of Silence.
