Britons who regularly book cheap flights to Paris may wish that they could move to France permanently and according to one expert this dream may be a sensible reality.

John Reilly, managing director at BuyAbroad.com, said that if a French property was in the right location and had a guaranteed rental income then it would still be a "good buy".

He added that in destinations popular with holidaymakers, such as Paris or Nice, there was always a steady flow of rental potential from one year to the next.

And he noted that in locations such as Brittany and down towards the south coast, property owners would always find tourists looking for a building to rent during the summer.

"Prices have come down about five to ten per cent over the last six months but in the right location they are still holding their money," Mr Reilly explained.

The property investment magazine Jet-to-Let reported this month that France was voted the second most popular destination for investors in foreign property after Cyprus, while Spain also made the top ten.
