Britons looking to experience a heavenly holiday this year may wish to book cheap flights to Majorca after gold medal winning cyclist Bradley Wiggins claimed it was the perfect family-friendly destination.

In an interview with the Times, the Olympic cyclist claimed that he had been back to Port de Pollenca, just north of Palma, so many times it had become a "home from home" to him.

However, this is to be expected as the resort is also home to the British cycling team's training base.

But Wiggins is unable to stay away from the sunny spot and returns there with his wife and kids during the summer where they spend the majority of their time playing together on the beach.

He adds that the main square of Port de Pollenca also has plenty to offer, being lined with restaurants, shops and bars and coming alive every Wednesday on market day.

"The things I like about Port de Pollenca are that the weather's usually great, it's easy to get to [and] it's relaxing any time of year," he enthuses.

Wiggins won three gold medals at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and two more at last year's Games in Beijing.
