Diane Parkes, in an article for the Coventry telegraph, admits that she jumped at the chance of visiting the Spanish city to celebrate Holy Week in style.
Between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, the streets of Malaga are filled with up to seven processions a day as the city is taken over by the celebrations, she adds - with floats being carried featuring Jesus and Mary and laden with silver and gold.
"All along the streets there is the atmosphere of fiesta as crowds jostle to view the floats and those walking," Ms Parkes states.
And while she notes that atmosphere is one of "fun and excitement", she adds that it is also taken seriously.
Cheap flights to Malaga could also lead to the perfect holiday for sun worshipers, as its location on the south coast of the Costa del Sol means it has a warm Mediterranean climate.
