Holidaymakers looking for a way to keep the total cost of their holiday down may find that a Spanish campsite can complement cheap flights to the country.
The Observer recently noted that the Lagos de Somiedo campsite in the Cordillera Cantabrica mountains of northern Spain is among the top ten campsites in Europe.
And due to its location up steep and twisting roads, very few people tend to make it to the site, in the village of Lago, which helps to make it an ideal wilderness getaway.
The relative cheapness of campsites, coupled with cheap flights to Spain, can help to ensure that the total cost of a getaway to the destination remains low as well.
"With cars confined to an entrance car park, the camping area is blissfully free of clutter and there's plenty of room to spread out and make yourself at home," the Observer says.
Being located by the Parque Natural de Someido can give campers a real taste of nature, the newspaper adds, noting that even bears and wolves roam the park.
Facilities at the campsite include a playground, barbecues, a bar and a restaurant.
