Music lovers who wish to abandon the usual UK festival tradition of spending the weekend ankle-deep in mud and hiding from the rain beneath a poncho crafted from a bin bag may wish to consider cheap flights to Spain to get their music fix this year.

The Times' Gareth Scurlock notes that Benicassim - which takes place from July 16th to 19th - is one of the most popular festivals on the continent and allows gig-goers to party on the beach near Valencia between bands.

With performances from Kings of Leon, the Killers and Oasis already confirmed, it is not just the line-up which will be scorching, with temperatures peaking at 40 degrees C.

Primavera Sound and Sonar take place in the same Barcelona venue, the first from May 28th to 30th and the latter from June 18th to 20th.

While Primavera offers up some of the best in indie and underground acts, Sonar hosts a party which features some of the globe's best DJs - meaning there is something for every music-lover who books cheap flights to Spain.
