Brits lead Lanzarote landings

Cheap flights to Lanzarote could be in greater demand among UK travellers in light of the increase in Brits landing at the holiday hotspot, it has been revealed.
Typically Spanish reports figures from Spain's airports operator Aena which show the increase in UK vacationers outpaces that from elsewhere in Europe.
Overall, 3.4 per cent more overseas visitors landed in Lanzarote in the year to August 2008, the news provider asserts.
But Britons outpaced this growth, with 7.9 per cent more arriving in Lanzarote than the previous year.
In all, the first eight months of 2008 saw more than half a million Brits visit the island.
Elsewhere in the Canaries, Tenerife was previously recommended as a destination for holidaymakers hoping to get some winter sun.
Writing for the Mirror, Amber Morales noted the low-cost shopping available on the island, which could help to keep budgets in check for anyone stepping off of cheap flights to Tenerife.
