Britons planning to book cheap flights to Barcelona for their summer holiday may wish to follow in the footsteps of an actor and writer who discovered a new side to Spain on a recent visit.
In an article for the Telegraph, the actor and playwright Steven Berkoff explained that after what felt like just minutes sat on the plane he touched down in Barcelona where he was to attend the city's Shakespeare festival.
He adds that the highlight of his holiday was a trip to Las Ramblas - a wide avenue which leads through the city to its port, full of "inviting" tapas restaurants with tables in the sun and street performers.
"At last I felt I was really in Spain … the city and its culture intact. It is the taste, the smell of Spain which is so vital to the soul," Mr Berkoff enthused.
People considering booking their cheap flights to Barcelona can also enjoy the city's dramatic coastlines, which Harold Heckle, in an article for the Associated Press, explained made the city a "powerful tourist magnet".
