Britons are snapping up cheap flights to Spain in order to spend the spring sunning themselves under the blazing sun on a Spanish beach, one expert has noted.
Mike Whiting, managing editor at Holiday Extras, said that the country was still popular with Britons looking for a sunny getaway.
"Spain is the top destination. These are people who have booked in the last month, so they are booking to go away in the next couple of months in the spring period," he claimed.
However, there are plenty of other sunny destinations that are proving popular with Britons looking to relax and get away from it all this spring, according to Mr Whiting, including Sharm El Sheikh and Malaga.
Britons who are considering booking cheap flights to Spain are certainly not alone.
According to recently released figures from the Office for National Statistics, Spain is the most popular holiday destination, accounting for nearly three in ten holidays (27 per cent) in 2007 and over 12 million visits.
