Cool Brits book cheap flights to Barcelona

Music lovers in the UK who want to play it cool while enjoying the heat this summer have been advised to book themselves on to some cheap flights to Barcelona.

In a list of the 12 hottest cool festivals of 2009, The Times' Sam Pow - author of Cool Camping: Festivals - has awarded Barcelona's Sonar festival the number two slot.

He calls the event - scheduled for the end of June - the "festival of choice for musos everywhere", adding that it has once again pulled a top line-up out of the bag, with performances set to include Orbital, Grace Jones, Deadmau5 and Crystal Castles.

Mr Pow explains that live performances take place all over the city, while there's always something happening at the beach.

And Britons may even wish to bring their kids along as this year's event will include a SonarKids entertainment area with a child-friendly sound system.

He also recommends Britons may wish to visit the Monegros Desert Festival in July where "the Spanish come to party".

Those who have booked cheap flights to Barcelona may also wish to check out the city's Primavera Sounds festival in May, with sets from My Bloody Valentine, Spiritualized and Neil Young.
