The last 12 months in the UK may not have been an easy time for many Britons and people may be considering where they can get away from it all - but booking cheap flights to Menorca could be a good way to escape the daily grind.

Menorca is one of the Spanish islands and boasts many beautiful beaches - 285 km of coastline to be exact - and two "fine towns", the Telegraph reports.

"The capital Mao has a magnificent natural harbour and the former capital Ciutadella has a picturesque port," the news resource states.

Visitors to the island are advised to check out Monte Toro, where they can enjoy views across the whole of Menorca, while there are also plenty of prehistoric remains to explore.

Furthermore, the Naveta Es Tudons is the oldest building in the whole of Spain and dates back around 3,500 years.

And Britons who book cheap flights to Menorca will be in good company, as Sean Tipton, spokesperson for ABTA - the Travel Association, recently claimed that Spain was still a firm favourite with UK holidaymakers.
