Britons who really want to get back to their roots may wish to book cheap flights to Crete this summer where they can participate in a hunter-gatherer-style getaway.
Writing for the travel pages of the Times, Tom Fordyce notes that humans were able to keep fit for millions of years by spending their days in the open air, rather than sweating it out on a treadmill while watching television at the gym.
A week at Wildfitness could see Britons getting back to nature in this way while also coming home a few pounds lighter.
He adds that activities included in the break are barefoot running, boxing and weights, while the meals are all high in organic meat, seafood, fruit, nuts and raw produce.
"The non-caveman part? You stay in restored 17th century village houses. It helps to keep the sabre-toothed tigers at bay," Mr Fordyce explains.
Britons looking for a more relaxing family holiday may also find that booking cheap flights to Crete is a good option.
The Times' Daniel Finkelstein recently stated that on a family trip to the island he was unable to find anything seriously wrong with his visit.
