Britons who can think of nothing better than being wined and dined at an eatery nestled in the hills of a sunny island may wish to book themselves some cheap flights to Crete.
Louise Killner, sales and operations manager at Pure Crete, tells the Guardian that hidden in the foothills of the White Mountains, south-west of the town of Rethymnon, Argiroupolis is "one of the most beautiful places to have lunch in western Crete".
The village boasts a small number of tavernas which enjoys shade from the sun from the surrounding chestnut trees and the relaxing soundtrack of the nearby springs.
Many of the eateries serve a Cretan salad, which features barley rusks soaked in oil and tomato and sprinkled with oregano.
And after dining, Ms Killner advises tourists to arm themselves with a map and explore the village of Argiroupolis which was built on the Roman city of Lappa.
Britons planning to book cheap flights to Crete may also be interested to hear that the Telegraph's Fred Mawer recently stated that it had the longest sunny season of all the Greek islands, as it was situated further south.
