Britons who wish to taste tapas in the country where it originated from may wish to book cheap flights to Spain.

And by visiting cities such as Madrid they may find that the dish has developed to take on flavours of a more international nature, making it far removed from the tapas on offer at many chain restaurants in the UK.

In an article for the Guardian, Stephanie Hills notes that it was the owners of the small bar Casa Lucas who in 1997 wished to serve cocina creativa de mercado and that the idea has now caught on.

This style of tapas involves using the best quality ingredients from local markets, but incorporating recipes and cooking techniques developed all over the world, she explains.

"Cocina creativa has become the latest thing in Madrid cuisine and the La Latina district, in particular the Cava Baja, is the cauldron where it's bubbling," Ms Hills states.

Britons with a love for international food may also wish to book cheap flights to Spain, after Richard Bigg, writing for the Telegraph, claimed that the small Spanish town of Alhama de Granada offers its visitors the chance to enjoy affordable tapas in the sunshine, while also boasting picturesque surroundings.
