Regional airlines likely to cope better

Regional UK airlines should be able to cope better during the current economic climate than the larger operators, one sector commentator has claimed.
Stewart Cordner, deputy vice-president of sales and marketing and asset management at BAE Systems, said that such airlines offered holidaymakers more well-travelled routes and also provided more business flights.
"As far as the regional sector is concerned, which is what we are all about; a lot more operators operate routes which are niche routes which bigger companies can't quite get into," he added
Holidaymakers looking for cheap winter flights in the UK may be interested to know that Jet2 operates mainly in the north of the country.
International traffic data for August from the International Air Transport Association show that growth slowed to 1.3 per cent, following growth of 1.9 per cent in July.
