There are a host of bargains to be had when looking for that dream overseas property, one sector commentator has claimed - and booking cheap flights to Spain could save travellers money when they are house hunting abroad.
Mark O'Sullivan, director of trading at Currencies Direct, said there was "no doubt" that if a buyer currently had the money they would be able to find a bargain at the moment.
He added that people could "literally" drive whatever bargain they liked and they would find a homeowner willing to sell somewhere.
"May traditionally heralds the start of the buying season overseas - people go away over Easter, fall in love with somewhere and they try to buy," Mr O'Sullivan explained.
And travellers considering booking cheap flights to Spain to search for a holiday home may be in luck, as the Knight Frank Global House Price Index recently revealed property prices in Spain fell by three per cent in the first quarter of 2009 compared to the previous three-month period.
