Travellers planning to book cheap flights to Spain may not be alone this summer as one sector commentator has claimed the country is seen as a home away from home for many UK holidaymakers.
Carmen Hernandez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourist Office in London, said that almost 90 per cent of the UK visitors to Spain in 2008 had been there before.
She added that the links between the two countries were "undeniable" and strong.
"[UK travellers] feel safe and secure there and they know they can communicate easily with people, drive on safe road[s] and get the best healthcare if they need it," Ms Hernandez stated.
And people booking cheap flights to Spain may find that they can also bag a bargain this year when it comes to their accommodation.
The trivago Hotel Price Index reveals that the average price of a double room in Barcelona fell by ten per cent from February to March to £93 per night, while in Madrid it decreased from £101 to £95.
