Travellers booking cheap flights to Rome can expect to find Italy is one of the only countries where visitors can order a bottle of wine from a shop and enjoy the perfect meal to accompany it in the same place, according to one writer.
John Hooper, in an article for the Guardian, explains that the idea of the enoteca may have first come about to offer somewhere for wine-lovers to visit where they could eat while they chose their bottle.
He adds that in Rome, some such retailers offer food that is just as "outstandingly good" as the wine itself.
Mr Hooper advises people who have booked cheap flights to Rome to visit Casa Bleve in the city, where visitors can sample a selection of cold meats and cheeses and may even be able to catch a mock naval battle nearby.
Robert Crampton recently wrote in the Times that he and his 12-year-old son enjoyed a fun getaway when they visited Rome, noting that he had been "bowled over" by the city.
