Travellers planning to book cheap flights to Spain for their holiday this summer can expect to visit a country that is still performing well in tourism terms.
Carmen Hernandez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourist Office in London, said that the average expenditure per tourist increased by 2.1 per cent to reach 833 (£708) per person between 2007 and 2008.
She added that there had not yet been a significant increase in the number of travellers visiting the lesser-known towns in Spain, which could mean that such places will offer people a chance to holiday away from all the tourists.
In an earlier statement, Ms Hernandez stated that travellers may be keen to book cheap flights to Spain as the country offered visitors from the UK the chance to experience a home away from home.
She noted that this was because people felt safe and secure when they visited the country.
