Travellers who have booked cheap flights to Malaga to enjoy their summer in the Costa del Sol may wish to explore the city, rather than bypassing it on their way to and from the airport.
One writer claims that people who do so are missing out on discovering more about an "overlooked treasure" which boasts the best climate in Europe.
In an article for Daily Telegraph, Natalie Paris states that Malaga is one of the most underrated cities in Spain.
"Those who drive into the city for the day ... will discover a vibrant centre where you can wander around Moorish ruins, re-discover Picasso and enjoy fried fish and tapas with locals by the sea," she notes.
She concludes that people planning to book cheap flights to Malaga should take the opportunity to visit the city where they can get a taste of "authentic Spain".
A holiday in Malaga may also prove to be a budget-friendly choice, after the Daily Telegraph's Sophie Butler said the destination is "well served" by cheap flights from the UK.
