Travellers looking to enjoy a holiday with a difference may wish to pack their riding boots and book cheap flights to Spain.
Writer Hugh Thomson, in an article for the Guardian, explains that on a recent trip to the country he visited the home of Bertrand Cauchy - well-known in northern Spain as being the "horse whisperer of the Pyrenees".
Mr Thomson was offered tips by the equine expert on how best to ride a horse, some of which were not used to being ridden.
And travelling on horseback also allowed him to discover the hidden side of Spain.
"This is still one of the last wildernesses left in Europe, far less visited than the French Pyrenees - but now more accessible thanks to direct flights ... from the UK," Mr Thomson noted.
Once travellers have touched down from their cheap flights to Spain there are plenty of ways that they too can choose to explore the country, including hiring a bicycle.
However, they may wish to book a more unusual form of transport, as writer Clover Stroud recently told the Guardian that her family had gone on a walking tour of Spain accompanied by a donkey to carry their luggage.
Book cheap flights to Spain online from as little as £9.99 with Jet2.com, the friendly low fares airline.
