Travellers who wish to expand their horizons by sampling the opera in the country where it originates from could do well to book cheap flights to Rome.
The Tuscan Sun Festival in Cortona sees some of the world's best known classical musicians arrive each year in order to entertain the crowds.
And Adrian Mourby, writing on the Guardian, explains that before the music kicks-off, attendees are invited to dine on a selection of local dishes, where music fans can taste delicacies including local salami, rigatoni, olive oil, unsalted bread, olives and cheese.
"The Tuscan Sun Festival is as much about food and wine as it is about music and the tastings are well attended, certainly by the British," Mr Mourby notes.
And people who book cheap flights to Rome can also expect to find a whole host of different classical and contemporary concerts going on this summer, as part of Estate Romana - Roman Summer.
Later in the month, gig-goers can expect to enjoy concerts by The Killers, Motorhead and 2ManyDJs as part of Italy's larger-scale equivalent to Glastonbury.
