Bargain-hunting Brits may be using cheap flights to Spain to find a low-cost property in the country, it has been claimed.
Head of overseas at Rightmove Robin Wilson said that Spain continues to attract UK home-hunters thanks to its cheap property prices.
And while other countries, particularly in eastern Europe or the Middle East, have also attracted Brits in recent years, Spain has maintained a good image for UK buyers, he said.
"Spain retains its image as expat friendly with a strong English influence, good legal infrastructure and the stability of being part of the EU," said Mr Wilson.
His comments follow research from Rightmove released earlier this month which showed that there has been a 9.6 per cent increase in the number of searches made for properties in Spain.
The country accounted for more than a fifth (21.8 per cent) of all searches on the website, the property company added.
