Over-55s turning to internet for cheap flights

The over-55s are increasingly using the internet to book their holidays and have more flexibility than other generations in doing so, it has been claimed.
Last-minute deals, possibly with cheap flights to Spain or other destinations, are being booked by this age group, argued Carmel Dennis, project manager at New Media Trend Watch.
Ms Dennis noted that this generation are familiar with the internet as a result of their work and also tend to have more free time to book last-minute breaks as they are generally freer from constraints linked with child care.
"The internet provides plenty of last-minute opportunities for those who have the time and money to take advantage of them," she said.
Such opportunities may well include taking advantage of cheap flights to Spain, possibly to enjoy a holiday home in the country, which remains popular with British tourists and expats alike thanks to its accessible markets, among other things.
