Despite spring predictions from the Met Office suggesting this summer could be a warm and sunny one, the cold and rain has once again hit the shores.
So now may be the time to take advantage of last-minute cheap flights to Spain and head off to warmer climes.
ABTA - the Travel Association recently noted that bookings have surged for last-minute deals as Brits seek to escape the torrential downpours.
In April, the Met Office suggested that temperatures in the UK could regularly be above 30 degrees C in the summer months - but, despite a warm June, July has not been as pleasant as predicted.
August rainfall is set to be near or above average, new predictions from the Met Office show - perhaps indicating that the trend for booking cheap flights and heading off on a last-minute getaway may continue.
The long-range forecasts provided by the Met Office are relatively new and have come about thanks to ongoing technological developments.
