Families taking a cheap flight to Spain to enjoy a summer holiday might want to take note of the following swimming pool safety advice.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Sophie Butler explained how parents can help to make sure their youngsters have a splashing time while enjoying a jolly jaunt safely.
She highlighted research from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents that found most incidents happen at hotel facilities, with toddlers aged between two and three at the highest risk.
Before booking a cheap flight and accommodation, Ms Butler suggested checking with the lodgings' managers what safety provisions there are – such as qualified lifeguards.
If families are staying in a private villa, she recommended ensuring the pool is cordoned off with secure gates that lock.
"While you're on holiday, the rule is talk through any potential risks with your children and keep a watchful eye on them," Ms Butler stated.
For little ones who love splashing around, a trip to a waterpark could be a fun way to cool off from the Spanish Sun. Aqualandia in Benidorm and Aquoplois in Madrid are possible facilities to try out.
