To save money on holiday, as well as booking cheap flights to Spain, people might also want to invest in an international sim card.
According to Tom Newton from mobile comparison site Recombu.com, this particular item should be seen as essential when going away as travel insurance or sun cream.
Installing an international sim into a phone means it will not have to be repeatedly turned on and off, he explained.
"For a one-off fee you can make low cost calls to numbers back home, or if someone calls you, it won't cost you an arm and a leg to receive it," noted Mr Newton.
Alternatively, holidaymakers could contact their network provider and ask about a separate roaming package, he added, concluding consumers might be able to get a temporary deal to receive calls and voicemail at a cheaper rate.
If people are jetting off to Spain, they might like to make a note that +34 93 is the area code for Barcelona.
