Many Britons hope to leave the grey skies, drizzle and overcooked turkey at home this year, by jetting off to enjoy the festive season abroad, according to the findings of a recent survey.
The poll by travel search engine Kayak.co.uk revealed that 60 per cent of Brits wanted to go abroad this Christmas, despite the ongoing credit crunch and financial crisis putting pressure on the budgets of many people.
One cost-cutting move may be to book cheap winter flights with Jet2.com, which operates from a number of airports across the north of the UK.
According to online resource Holiday Extras, 41 per cent of respondents said their perfect break would be to the beach, while 23 per cent wished to visit a European city.
Annie Wilson, Kayak.co.uk business development director, said: "The British Christmas culture is evolving from a homebound winter wonderland into a nomadic winter wanderlust instead."
Meanwhile, the Mirror has noted that Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, may be the perfect place to spend the festive season this year.
