Those booking cheap flights to Majorca have been advised on where they can go to get an authentic taste of the island.

Graham Boynton said in an article for the Telegraph this week that although resorts such as Magaluf have become famed for their late night bars and appeal to British travellers, there is much more to see outside these locations.

Speaking to a local cab driver, the writer was told the real Majorca lies in "cool and sophisticated" districts like Fornalutx and Deia.

Mr Boynton explained a visit to the latter revealed something of a "picture-book village", while the former justified its "reputation as the most beautiful village in Spain" - thanks in part to the great weather he saw on the day.

He concluded by saying the place is "a symphony of tiny cobbled streets and pink and brown stone houses surrounded by terraces of orange groves".

Also this week, those looking for cheap flights to Spain were advised in a piece for the same publication by Adriaane Pielou that the city of Jerez offers a wealth of Andalusian authenticity.
