Cheap flights to Spain could be at the top of many people's agenda after it emerged more Brits are looking forward to a summer break next year.

The Thomson and First Choice Trends Report 2009 revealed 80 per cent of people in the UK planned to get away to enjoy the sun at some point in 2010, with a similar number saying they would not let the recession interfere with this.

Around half of those questioned said they would be happy to spend the same amount as they did this year and 24 per cent admitted they may even part with more cash this time.

Commenting on the study, executive director at the Association of Independent Tour Operators Kate Kenward said it was clear people did not want to miss out on the chance to enjoy some summer sun.

"People are more optimistic about their holiday plans for 2010. This is likely to see expenditure rise and I expect the eurozone countries to become more popular next year," she added.

In addition to Spain, other countries in this category include Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, and the Netherlands.
