Brits will still opt for cheap flights to Spain and other destinations to take advantage of the weather, it has been suggested.
According to Abta – The Travel Association, although there have been reports of many settling for a "damp holiday at home", a large number may follow this up by seeking out the sun abroad.
Frances Tuke, spokeswoman for the organisation, said holidaying in the UK had improved in terms of quality and value, but added promises of "a barbeque summer" have left people disappointed.
"We all know that the UK weather can be very uncertain," she added, "but once you've been on one damp holiday at home, you start looking to go further afield."
Ms Tuke went on to note that resorts offering "fantastic beaches" were among those that would always score highly with holidaymakers, as would those with access to theme parks.
Isla Magica, Monte Igueldo, Terra Mitica, Tivoli World and Universal Port Aventura are among the attractions of this kind that those with cheap flights to Spain could experience.
