Britons are now less likely to collect travel brochures when planning a holiday, preferring to research a trip online instead, a new poll has found.
According to online resource Travelmole, the survey by the webTV travel site Holiday '09 found that six out of ten adults no longer request the traditional vacation leaflet.
When it comes to seeking advice on how to save money and get the best deal on their holiday next year, 90 per cent of respondents said they would be doing so online.
Britons looking to cut costs while planning a 2009 vacation may be interested to know that the budget airline Jet2.com provides cheap flights from Edinburgh, Manchester, Blackpool, Belfast, Newcastle, Leeds and Bradford.
Holiday 09 editor Ceriann Mullins said: "It's clear that following recent events in the industry and the global economy that customers want reassurance from travel companies placing openness, transparency and interactivity higher up their decision making process."
Meanwhile, the Guardian has noted that fewer of today's students appear to be taking a gap year before university.
