People who book cheap flights to Spain are likely to be among those who are increasingly using holiday review websites.
Holidaymakers planning on making trips to destinations such as Barcelona, Almeria and Menorca could well be using web resources to learn more about their accommodation and location, a representative of Trip Advisor has suggested.
Amelie Hurst, a spokesperson for the organisation, said customers are researching their holidays in greater detail because "the wealth of reviews and opinions from other like-minded travellers helps them to select the right destination".
She went on to say: "Travellers certainly have an increasing desire to share their own experiences" and compared online reviews to "getting advice from a trusted friend".
A recent report published by Thomson and First Choice found that 80 per cent of people mainly trust holiday reviews, while the rest admitted to having doubts about those which appeared to be a complaint or merely reflected a company's commercial interests.
