Holidaymakers and business travellers planning to jet off to the United States have been warned that they will soon have to apply for permission to enter its borders 72 hours in advance of flying.
According to the online resource TravelMole, airlines will now be required to comply with the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation, which will become mandatory on January 12th 2009.
Travellers will now have to hand over their name, date of birth, passport details, planned destination address and flight number, at least three days before they take off, or risk being refused entry.
In addition, non-US citizens must continue to fill in a green I-94W form until further notice, which is made available at check-in or onboard the aircraft.
Britons who are hoping for an American adventure next year may be interested to know that Jet2.com offers cheap flights to New York, flying from Leeds Bradford airport.
They may also be excited to hear that several US ski resorts are opening early this year, following heavy falls of snow.
