Travellers will book cheap flights to Tunisia in their droves in 2010, if one expert's comments are anything to go by.

Frances Tuke, spokesperson for Abta – The Travel Association, predicted short breaks to the north African destination will prove popular this year.

He explained that nations outside the eurozone are set to see increases in footfall due to changes in air passenger duty.

Ms Tuke remarked: "If people feel that they can afford to take … [holidays] they will. It's something that people always want to do."

He was reacting to a poll published by PricewaterhouseCoopers recently, which revealed short breaks are moving back up the priority list for UK residents.

It is now the sixth most important aspect of an annual spending agenda.

Last month, Abta spokesperson Sean Tipton told the Daily Mail that Tunisia, Egypt and Turkey could all fare well this year, suggesting they form an indomitable holiday trio.
