Those who book cheap flights to Turkey through Jet2.com can expect to enjoy sun, sea and sand, if one expert is to be believed.

Simon Calder, a travel expert who has contributed to BBC programmes and GMTV, said the country has "vast amounts to discover", as does any nation.

He suggested people looking for holiday ideas could also try Egypt - which can be reached by booking cheap flights to Sharm El Sheikh.

Those who head to this city could decide to explore the Sinai Peninsula, Mr Calder explained.

He remarked: "Turkey [and] Egypt ... are becoming more accessible thanks to the increased number of flights."

Another expert, the Sunday Mail's travel editor Frank Barrett, recently suggested Turkey will prosper as a holiday destination in 2010.

He claimed the pan-continental nation could even overtake the likes of traditional hotspots such as Spain and Greece.

Mr Barrett also predicted Sharm El Sheikh will be popular this year.
